I haven’t been to Taronga zoo since I was a kid, but I thought you really can’t skip Australia’s biggest zoo when you talk about activities to do around Sydney.

Taronga Zoo is located in Mosman, which you can easily get to by ferry. The ferry ride is a great way to see the harbour and take photos of the Opera House as well as the Sydney Bridge.

Getting There

Grab a ferry from Circular Quay to Taronga Zoo. From there you can ride the cable car up the hill to the Zoo entrance.

Tips

  • Tickets are cheaper when you book online. They also have special deals from time to time as well as a Birthday discount. So check their website out for the latest offers on tickets.
  • There’s a lot of exhibits at the zoo, but not every single one will be open. Your best best is to visit on a sunny day where most of the animals will be out.
  • You can easily spend a day here, which means you might want to pack lunch as there’s only a few areas that sells very basic food options.
