Sydney is a beach city, with Bondi Beach being the shining poster child out of them all. However, Bondi get’s crowded and if you’re not hoping for long stretches of sand but just a nice day out to the seaside, then La Perouse is a great alternative for a family day out.
La Perouse is a south eastern suburb in Sydney about 30 – 40 minutes away from the city centre by car. You can alternatively reach this seaside suburb by bus as well.
La Perouse is a very relaxing neighbourhood with many open areas, and the main draw is the La Perouse Headlands area, which is near the New South Wales golf club. You’ll find several small sized beaches ranging from sandy, rocky and pebbled beaches nearby.
The family and I grabbed lunch at The Boatshed, a restaurant right by the water with an array of casual dining options. We ordered the lobster linguine, a fish burger and a seafood platter.
No big complaints on the food. The fish burger was a little on the dry side, however a dry burger wasn’t going to ruin such a beautiful day.
