Top 5 Meat pies in Sydney

Meat pies. A baked crust pastry with a warm flavourful meat filling.

Who doesn’t like a meat pie!?

It’s a quick meal, small snack, and comfort food many of us grew up eating. It is one of the few dishes that many associate with Australian cuisine.

So today I’m going to show you 5 places with some of the most amazing meat pies I personally love in Sydney.

FLOUR & STONE

53 Riley St, Woolloomooloo

Flour & Stone is located in Woolloomooloo serving a bunch of different baked goods.

I’ve actually featured them before for their mouth watering Pannacotta  Lamington. Click this link to see what makes their Lamington amazing.

I got two different flavours. Their Syrian chicken pie and their lamb, potato, rosemary pie.

The Syrian chicken pie was bursting with flavour from the various spices. You could smell it before you even take a bite!

The filling was like a beautiful chicken, spiced casserole but in a buttery, flaky pastry for easy eating. Perfect!

The lamb, potato and rosemary pie was equally good. The lamb was so tender and packed with so much flavour. It was simply incredible and a great lunch option to consider if you’re in the area.

BAKERIE

773 Pacific Hwy, Gordon

Another place selling various baked good. Bakerie makes a great selection of different pies.

I got their last beef pie when I got there, because the chicken and lamb was sold out. So I can’t review it for you today, however I really do think their chicken and lamb pies are equally good.

One of the best parts of this pie is the pastry. It’s super flaky, but it doesn’t crumble when you bite into it. The base is solid but not thick. And it’s super buttery.

PIE TIN

1a Brown St, Newtown

Pie Tin in Newtown specialises in pies, and sells a wide wide range of them at their small store.

I got their BBQ beef brisket pie, which already sounds amazing.

The gravy inside from the meat filling being baked in a buttery flaky capsule, was-amazing.

The beef brisket is amazingly tender, which I don’t know how they manage to do in a pie since beef brisket is a tough cut.

Another go-to pie I get is their classic mince.

BOURKE STREET BAKERY

3/330 King St, Newtown

Bourke street bakery has multiple locations, and I’ve featured a few of them in other various videos because their baked goods are just so good.

But today we are at the Newtown location for their chunky beef pie.

And chunky it is.

The amount of filling and beef you get in this pie is incredible. Well seasoned, full of flavour with an amazing flaky crust.

HARRY'S CAFE DE WHEELS

Cowper Wharf Road &, Dowling St, Woolloomooloo

Harry’s cafe de wheels started at their stall before opening up a cafe.

We’re going to their original location where they still serve fresh pies everyday from.

I got their tiger pie, which is a chunky beef pie topped with mashed potato, mushy peas and gravy.

The crust isn’t flaky like the others on this list, but it works super well with the mushy peas and mashed potato on top.

A bite of everything is the definition of comfort food.
