Anyone who likes live jazz and French food in Sydney, would have heard or been to Hubert. Not just a restaurant but an institution for a great time in Sydney’s CBD.
So I may be biased about Hubert as it’s my favourite French restaurant, but there’s something about it that never disappoints when I go, and this particular time we went to celebrate my sister’s birthday.

Hubert
- ADDRESS
15 Bligh St, Sydney NSW 2000
Getting a table requires booking in advance and so we took what was available with an early 5 o’clock table for 3.
We sat down to enjoy a round of drinks while watching the live jazz band before our food arrived. We ordered a duck parfait with bread and Prime beef tartare to start. The parfait was very smooth, rich and indulgent and the beef tartare was excellent. A great mouth feel with a really nice dressing. I personally really like the beef tartare at Hubert and highly recommend you ordering it when you go.

For mains, we ordered the Bavette steak, Duck a l’orange and Murry Cod a La Hubert. The steak and duck was delicious but the Murry cod stood out for me that night. It has a great flaky texture and the flavour was a great balance of savoury, herby and tart.

Hubert is one of those restaurants I go to knowing exactly what I’ll get. Consistently great food, good service and casual, friendly cozy vibes. Getting a table isn’t the easiest but is worth it if you’re looking for a place to celebrate or a special date night.

Highly recommend trying it at least once if you’re in town.
