Kam’s Roast Goose is the product of 3 generations of perfecting the delicious cantonese delicacy – roast goose.

It has won a Michelin star for being consistently and reliably delicious for 8 consecutive years! But like most Michelin stars in Asia, the price tag is accessible, the dining experience is friendly and inclusive.

There’s nothing overly fancy once you step in. You still get that signature feel of a Cantonese style roast meat restaurant, but just slightly more refined with the lighting, service and seating.

I was very lucky, with no lines. However, long lines of people waiting for a table is a common occurrence, with some people waiting over an hour to try their famous roast goose.

The Roast Goose

I ordered a set meal which comes with a starter and a drink. The total was $100 HKD at the time of trying this – 2022. The price only slightly more than most other places, which I think is well worth it for the Michelin star as well as the convenient location and great service.

I got the roast goose leg with rice noodles, which is the classic go-to way to have your roast goose. They give a side of plum sauce which I think they make themselves. (Though I’m not sure, I just know it was perfectly sweet and tart)

The skin was thin, delicate and crispy. The amount of fat to meat was perfect. Not too much fat that you get a greasy mouth, but just enough to give you a umami bomb of flavour. The meat was firm but not tough.

I totally understand how they’ve managed to consistently get a Michelin star for 8 years.

My mum had a char siu rice, which I took a cheeky bite of because I love char siu. The fat to meat ratio was great and the marinade was delicious.

I said I was going to go again before I leave Hong Kong, and I really did because it’s just too delicious. Give it a try if you’re in Hong Kong an let me know what you think.
