Ram Don, or Jjapaguri is a relatively new dish created in Korea and got world famous from the Oscar winning movie, Parasite.
Its basically the mixing of two types of instant noodles. Chapagetti and Neoguri, hence the name – Jjapaguri.
What you get is a very flavourful, savoury noodle dish that’s slightly spicy. The way they do it in the movie is to pair it with steak, which is what I’m going to do as well.
INGREDIENTS
SERVES 1
1 pack Chapagetti
1 pack Neoguri
Some stir-fry steak or any cut that grills well. (as much as you want to eat)
1 tablespoon of oil
Salt and pepper to taste
DIRECTIONS
Step 1: Get a pot of water to boil and place your instant noodles and any dehydrated vegetable flakes inside.
Step 2: Stir fry your beef while the noodles are cooking. Heat up a pan, season your beef, add some oil and fry until cooked. Place aside.
Step 3: Once the noodles are done – use a sieve to drain the noodles from the cooking water and pour in all the remaining sauce packets in.
Step 4: Mix the noodles and sauces well. Place your beef in as well and enjoy!
Cooking Tips
- Wait for the water to boil before putting your noodles into the pot to avoid your noodles getting overly soft/soggy.
- Make sure your pan is hot before placing your beef to get a good sear.
- Be careful of the spicy seafood seasoning powder if you can’t take too much spice.
