Like most Australians, I love Thai food.
Order a cheeky pad thai and green curry is something I enjoy and associate with a relaxing evening in.
However, Thai cuisine isn’t JUST pad thai or green curry. Thai food has a plethora of delicious dishes I can spend my entire life trying to get through.
Tonight, I decided to visit a street side stall that was bustling with locals the other night I walked past.
Here are all the details:
- ADDRESS
Soi Sueksa Witthaya, Khwaeng Silom, Khet Bang Rak, Krung Thep Maha Nakhon 10500, Thailand
The restaurant is located in a back road where chairs and tables take over the entire pavement area.
I wish I knew what the restaurant was called, but I can’t speak Thai and the owners didn’t speak much English. However, according with Google maps at hand, you shouldn’t have any problems finding this place. (a short walk away from Silom station)
What I ordered:
#1: Thai Green Papaya Salad
The Green papaya salad is a spicy salad made from shredded unripe papaya. Not only is it my favorite street food, I have to say it’s actually one of my favourite Thai Dishes. This fresh, tangy salad is packed with herbs, and is crunchy with lots of texture
#2: Traditional Thai mince pork with lime and mint
This traditional Thai dish features the zesty flavors of lime and mint with pork and vegetables. It is extremely delicious on rice and definitely another favourite street food of mine. My shots of the mince pork made me salivate as I was editing this video. Click above to see what I’m talking about.
#3: Salt crusted grilled Fish (whole)
This fish was coated in salt and then grilled. The fish was cooked perfectly and it was so moist and juicy. There were subtle hints of salty flavour but definitely wasnt over-bearing
#4: Stir fry vegetables with oyster sauce
Honestly this is just your typical stir fry veggies in a sauce – nothing too special but… vegetables are of course needed for any good meal!
